Normally I try to leave the stout and darker beers to my co-founder, Adam but with the Six Nations reaching what was arguably the most anticipated game of the tournament (England vs Wales and the referee), I had to find a really special stout.
This was a really special stout.
As with most flavoured stouts, the first impressions for taste are that this is an incredibly, rich and decadent beer. Thick, creamy and extremely smooth the dominant flavour here is a sweet, sticky maple syrup punch that hits you as soon as you raise the glass to your face.
The sweetness of the maple syrup is really well balanced out by what can only be described as scarily accurate pancake batter. It isn’t too dissimilar from a lovely biscuity flavour or muffin / other lovely, delicious, baked treats. This landing really rounds off the flavour profile well for this quaffable and really clever Milk Stout.
The cans from Siren Craft Brew are all very similar in design, so there isn’t much to say about the specific design of Midnight Stack as a standalone beer. That said though, the colour scheme on the can itself does SCREAM pancake (coming mainly from the yellow) and I can tenuously imagine that the maple is being represented by the purple, deep brown.
Just because there isn’t much to say about the design on this specific beer, doesn’t mean I’m not a fan of the Siren Craft Brew branding… because I really am and at the end of the day, it’s mainly about what's inside, right? Inside this can, is a bloody good beer.
Siren Craft Brew are, as you would imagine, a craft brewery based in Wokingham. Interestingly, the name represents their ‘Six Sirens’ all of which make up a total 6 flagship beers. Those flagship beers are described as ‘adventurous but drinkable’ making them PERFECT for anyone who is looking to dip their toes into the weird, wacky and wonderful world of craft beer. That isn’t to say these beers aren’t packed with enough flavour to satisfy the craft beer connoisseurs - that sums up the ethos of Siren Craft Brew, so GO AND CHECK THEM OUT!!
