Collaborations can be hit and miss. Not all breweries work well together and sometimes, the experiments just don't pay off.
For me this is one of those times. Fancy Wiring is a reasonable IPA, but it's way too hoppy for me and that made it almost bitter to taste.
Both Fierce Beer and 8 Wired have made some awesome beers separately and I know that Fierce's other collabs get rave reviews, but this one just didn't do it for me.
The aroma is fruity and light which is to be expected when using the citra hops, and it's a theme that carries right through to the aftertaste where the fruitiness is subtle but pleasant.
The citra and amarillo hops though made it way too hoppy, together making it almost bitter and ruining any hope the fruity flavours had to come through.
It pours a beautiful hazy gold and don't get me wrong, its claim of being sessionable is very true - I could easily imagine sinking a few of these if I was enjoying it.
A simple can that flies in the face of the name. There's nothing much fancy about it but it's quite an eye-catching design nonetheless.
Diagonal grey pinstripes cross the silver can and the logos and names of the two breweries take up half the can space.
The purple text stands out against the silver, especially the 'fancy wiring' name which is in block capitals that are nice and chunky.
You can check out just how fancy this wiring is for yourself at Beer52. It's just £2.99 too which is well worth a try, even if you weren't a fan like me.
