I’ve always been a fan of Cloudwater, both with their beer and branding. You can therefore imagine my excitement when my local Tesco started stocking some of their beers. The Cloudwater Session IPA is no exception to their excellent range of beers.
This one in particular, has made me absolutely desperate to visit their Tap Room in Manchester and I can’t wait to do so. This beer is the perfect start to a long, Bank Holiday weekend.
The Cloudwater Session IPA is a good’un. A real good’un. As soon as you crack the can open, you get a cacophony of tropical and citrus aromas and that really comes through on the palette too. There is a big smack of grapefruit, I even get a slight hint of pineapple too among a whole other load of tropical fruits.
Once you’ve landed from the tropical notes and aromas, you are mellowed out with a nice, hop-forward finish. This Session IPA uses a blend of modern and traditional hops which works amazingly well - it’s a very clever end-product.
Not only is this a really fruity, well-balanced beer but it’s also got a GORGEOUS colour to it, with a haze that I could stare at all weekend. It’s also an incredibly smooth and quaffable beer that slides down. I wish I had bought more than one.
There isn’t too much to say about the can design to be honest, but I wouldn’t say in this case that is a bad thing. I think there is not much to say because of how brilliantly minimalist the Cloudwater branding is.
The Session IPA features an on-brand, minimalist design, with a light blue colour that somehow, and I’m not sure how, fits the taste of the beer perfectly.
Cloudwater is a brewery driven by innovation and impact. Their beer represents not only several year's development of scene-changing hazy beers, but also their ambition to use thei platform for good.
Cloudwater no longer centered just on beer. They look to create, celebrate, fund, and facilitate change both within craft beer and throughout connected industries through a multitude of initiatives that look to drive meaningful change.
You can support that change by heading over to your local Tesco and purchasing the Cloudwater Session IPA for just £3 a can. Alternatively, you can order from the Cloudwater website.
