Beer Geeks around the world rejoice, as this coffee stout is now available in an alcohol-free version. Less booze, just as much caffeine.
Coffee and stout are a partnership as old as time, with the deep and rich body of stouts working in perfect partnership with the rich bitterness of coffee.
But what happens if you create a stout that is alcohol free, making it much thinner? Well, dear reader, continue below!
The thin body is complimented well by a thick, creamy head that has a strong espresso aroma. In amongst that, there is a tangy, sharp scent too that's difficult to put my finger on, but it teases the nostrils.
The initial taste is really sharp, verging on being sour but not in the fruity way that sour beers are, this is a much more unique flavour. This develops into a strong coffee flavour - it's almost like drinking a cold brew coffee, especially with the aftertaste that's all about the caffeine too.
The bottle is quite simple, but it's certainly effective. It's actually almost the exact same label as the full alcohol version with the guy peeking out of the coffee mug in a Kilroy-was-here kind of way.
What marks this out as different though is the big old '0.3%' that's stamped on the coffee mug, making it clear that this a non-alcoholic brew.
The contrasting brown shades works well to create contrast and while it's not the most imaginative or creative from Mikkeller's range of label designs, it's certainly descriptive.
One of our haul from the Wise Bartender, you can pick up this for just £2.59 a bottle.
